SSA Graduate elected President of SCAA for 2009

Linda Page was elected President of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association at their annual convention held in Greenville, SC, January 9th-11th, 2009. Linda is a 1995 graduate of Southeastern School of Auctioneering and is the owner of Page’s Thieves Market Auctions, located in Mount Pleasant, SC. She conducts approximately 50 auctions a year and is also a Realtor conducting Real Estate Auctions. Linda is a Graduate Personal Property Appraiser (GPPA) and her specialties include antiques and used furniture. Southeastern School of Auctioneering would like to congratulate Linda in being elected President of SCAA.

Other officers and directors elected were: Jennifer Moore, Vice President, Michael Moore, and David Watson, Directors who are all graduates of Southeastern School of Auctioneering. David Meares who is an Instructor for Southeastern School of Auctioneering was elected as a Director to the board. Darron Meares and Tony Adams are current members serving on the Board of Directors, Matt Holiday and Deborah Derrick are past officers, all who are SSA graduates. Congratulation to all!

Larry Meares, President of Southeastern School of Auctioneering has served twice as President of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association.

Coby McGuire wins SCAA Bid Calling Championship

Coby McGuire, recent graduate of the Southeastern School of Auctioneering was awarded the title of Bid Calling Champion at the 2009 South Carolina Auctioneers Association convention held January 9-11 in Greenville, South Carolina. Coby attended the school to fulfill South Carolina Auction Law requirements of 80 hours of approved instruction prior to testing for his SC Auctioneers License.

Coby will now move on to the National Auctioneers Association International Auctioneer Championships to be held in Overland Park, Kansas in July of 2009. The contest attracts hundreds of auctioneers throughout the world and tests them on bid calling ability and an interview process for finalists.

News from Larry Meares, President of Southeastern School of Auctioneering

One of our students that completed the course in February, 2008, COBY McGuire, won the South Carolina Auctioneers Association Bid Calling Championship this past weekend in Greenville, SC (Jan. 10th). We congratulate this graduate for his hard work and ability to achieve this honor in our Auctioneering Profession.

Our school has changed the classroom location back to the original site for this coming year. The room rates are great at his location, and the hotel has recently undergone a renovation that makes it highly competitive in our market.

We use a classroom in a hotel so students can stay there and attend classes in the same building, thereby saving them some funds that they would have used traveling from hotel to the classroom.

There is plenty to do in the City of Greenville, and we are looking forward to the new/old location.

Southeastern School of Auctioneering Bid Calling Champions

Nine graduates of Southeastern School of Auctioneering have won the South Carolina Auctioneers Association’s award for BID CALLING CHAMPION AUCTIONEER in the past few years, and the most recent one is Coby McGuire in 2009.

Some of our graduates have also won in their respective states. Many graduates are working in the auctioneering profession and are taking part in their state auctioneering associations.
